Because of last year’s sales restrictions the Vizovice distiller fell into loss for the first time in 15 years. A return to profit should be helped not only by higher sales at home, but also by exports to new markets such as Vietnam or Kazakhstan.

At a cost of 11.5 million CZK a new factory has opened in Miletín to make classic Hořice tube desserts. Pravé hořické trubičky is expecting to use it to increase production by up to 40% It wishes to make a bigger mark in Slovakia.

Good Food Products, the largest Polish manufacturer of rice cakes, is expanding. It is preparing to strengthen its position as an export to the markets of Central Europe, with the Czech Republic as its main target at present.

AGPI Písek, one of the country's largest egg producers, has invested some 80 million CZK over the last two years in modernisation of its chicken farm. The European Union should cover just under half of the investment.

Plzeňský Prazdroj has commissioned a new line for producing beer with fruit juices, malted drinks and wheat beers. The investment valued at 143 million CZK is a reaction to the increasing consumer demand for these drinks.

Under its new management SPAR ČOS is continuing in the expansion and consolidation of its retail network on the Czech market. It is not preparing to sell the company, nor is departure from the Czech Republic under consideration.

Vodňanská drůbež plans to investment 60-80 million CZK in the construction of a logistics centre and modernisation of the chicken portioning plant. The warehouse will also be used for the distribution of other companies' products.
