Vítkovice Power Engineering is making Westinghouse a demonstration model of one of the modules for the AP1000 nuclear power station. The US-Japanese company is offering this in its proposal for the completion of Temelín.

Alstom in Brno will modernise the power station of Alpiq Generation (CZ) in Kladno at a cost of more than 100 million CZK. Some of the boilers will undergo reconstruction, with nitrogen oxide emissions being reduced by up to half.

Sigma Group is to arrange the delivery of pumps for the Novaya Voronezh 2 nuclear power station in Russia. The contract is worth roughly two million EUR (52 million CZK). Construction of the power station is being performed by Rosatom.

The last bidder for the power stations in Kladno and Zlín, belonging to the Swiss company Alpiq, has refused to pay the 10.5 billion CZK price demanded by the Swiss. Its final bid is some 2 billion less, and it has withdrawn from the bidding.

According to Polish daily Rzeczpospolita, Polish coal trader Weglokoks might purchase the Svoboda coking plant. This is owned by the Czech group New World Resources (NWR), which is struggling with falling prices and demand.

New World Resources (NWR) still does not have a buyer for its Důl Paskov mine near Karviná. If a buyer is not found, the mine may have to close. There are several parties interested in the OKK coking company, which is also up for sale.

The heat plants in Kladno and Zlín have yet to find a new owner. The Czech group PURS has shown interest but it will obtain the heat plants only if it accedes to the price being demanded by their Swiss owner by the end of next week.
